KARACHI: At least five hours of tireless rescue efforts have passed so far yet the fire, that broke out in a cotton warehouse in Samanabad area here, could not be brought under control while as many as 19 fire tenders are engaged in rescue efforts, fire-fighting sources revealed.
According to sources, a cotton storeroom, located on Sparko Road in Samanabad area, caught fire due to anonymous reasons late on Friday night while fire, turning inferno, engulfed entire storeroom in no time.
Fire gutted high-class cotton packages stored there for the purpose of export to foreign countries.
Fire-tenders started to arrive on the fire scene as soon as fire-fighting came to know about fire eruption while all fire-stations were put on high alert immediately after the incident and began sending fire tenders to extinguish fire, source told Geo news.
19 fire-tenders together with 4 water tankers of Karachi City Government (CGK) while some other rescue teams, rangers personnel and welfare organizations’ rescue teams are partaking rescue efforts, sources added. |  |
