 Beach handball from May 15

Beach handball from May 15 KARACHI: The Sixth National Beach Handball Championship, carrying nine teams, will be held here at Clifton from May 15 to 17.

This was announced by the registrar of Karachi University Professor Raees Alvi during a press briefing here at a local hotel. He said in the three-day affair, the teams including Army, WAPDA, Railways, Police, Higher Education Commission (HEC), NWFP, Punjab, Sindh and Baloshistan will show their worth.

He also said that the four provincial teams and that of HEC will be accommodated here at the Karachi University's hostels while the departmental teams will manage their own accommodations. He said that the teams from the federating units and HEC will also be provided with transport facilities during the tournament.

Alvi said that the matches will be played from 8:00pm to 12:00pm in order to avoid the heat of the day. He said that the draws will be made on Thursday. Directress Physical Education of Karachi University Aabda Shaheen is the organising secretary of the competition while the Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University Dr Pirzada Qasim Shah is the chief patron.
