KARACHI: The intense hot weather coupled with the unannounced prolonged power cuts are continued across country as the electricity shortfall has gone beyond 2000 megawatt a day on Monday, Geo news said.
According to details, the duration of the electricity load shedding has crossed 12 hours per day while the major cities have also been suffering from this menace, including twin cities, with rural and urban areas witnessing eight and six hours outages daily.
The spokesman to the federal ministry for water and electricity said the power generation capacity is standing at 12,114 megawatt while the demand has amassed up to 14000 megawatt leaving the demand short of over 2000 megawatt.
All the major and minor cities in Punjab have been meeting the same fate including Lahore as every alternate hour appears with the electricity going off.
The prolonged power outages have also adversely blurred the industrial, business and social activities throughout the country while some cities are also confronting the menace of low voltage with complaints in regard to the break down of electronic items. | |
