| LHC orders temporary ban on Facebook|

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered temporary ban on Facebook, which is holding a competition of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
A petition filed by Azhar Siddique Advocate in Lahore High Court sought ban on social website of Facebook which has created a wave of outrage in the Muslim world due to blasphemous sketches.
Lahore High Court today allowed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the lawyers an hour for consultation after which it was decided to close Facebook website.
Secretary of Communication in his statement informed the court that the portion of the website carrying caricatures has been blocked however the entire website could not be blocked due to technical reasons.
The court has directed the concerned authority to informed it about government steps on blasphemous caricatures on May 31st.
