KARACHI: Thousands of peasants in the lower Sindh are going through the worst monetary crisis due to huge fall in the buying price of sun flower and low production.
They told that the suns flower crop decreased by50 per cent as compared to the previous year due to sale of substandard seeds and they are facing poverty due to decline in buying price.
According to peasants, buying price of sun flower was Rs1800 per maund last year which has become Rs1300 per maund in recent season.
Previous year, per acre production was from 12 to 13 maunds which has been declined to 5-6 maunds.
Sun flower has been cultivated on more than 400,000 land in Badin and Thatta region. |  |
