KARACHI: Different religious and non-religious groups Sunday held protest demonstrations against social networking site Facebook for hosting a competition about blasphemous drawings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
In Hyderabad, traders took out a rally against the blasphemous caricatures and staged protest in front of the local press club. The protestors strongly condemned the Facebook for holding such a competition.
Various religious organizations gathered at Sukkur Press Club and slammed the social networking website for hurting the sentiments of Muslims across the world by holding the competition. The protestors called for a complete ban on Facebook in Pakistan.
In addition, the JUI-F group also led demonstrations in Jacobabad and Shikarpur against the sacrilegious drawings.
In Multan, members of civil society took out a rally on Bosan Road. The demonstrators were holding placards, inscribed with slogans against the management of Facebook.
