Defiant police officers to get exemplary punishments: CJ ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has once again expressed his resentments over keeping the accused in jails without presenting the challans and declared that the defiant police officers would be given exemplary punishments.

During the hearing of a case today, SC CJ in his remarks said that the people were rotting in jails and enquired from the AIG representing Punjab IG in the court how many such police officers, who kept the accused in custody without challan, were sent home.

SC CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry further said that all the organizations were bound to comply the orders of the Supreme Court under constitution and any one defying would be given exemplary punishment.

The chief justice ordered submitting details today of all the accused without challans kept in jails all across Punjab, however, the police sought time, which acceding to extend for three days the hearing of case was adjourned.
