Mumbai outclass Bangalore by nine wickets BANGALORE: The Mumbai Indians recorded an easy nine-wicket victory over the Bangalore Royal Challengers here on Wednesday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 55th Twenty20 match of the Indian Premier League.

Chasing an easy target of 123 runs from 18 overs, the Mumbai Indians finished at 126 for only one wicket with two overs remaining.

Sanath Jayasuriya top-scored with a speedy 54 off 37 balls. He hit four sixes and as many fours during his innings.

He was well supported by his captain Sachin Tendulkar who remained not out on 40 while Robin Uthappa was not out on 19.

Earlier, the Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field after the rain-curtailed match was reduced to 18-overs-a-side and then restricted the Bangalore Royal Challengers at 122 runs for nine wickets.

Bangalore’s main scorers were Cameron White (26), Vinay Kumar (23) and Shreevats Goswami (20) while captain Rahul Dravid, Mark Boucher, Misbah-ul-Haq failed in their last match of the tournament.

Dilhara Fernando was the most successful bowler from Mumbai with four wickets for 18 runs while Dwayne Smith claimed three for 26.

Bangalore made two changes by replacing Wasim Jaffer and Jacques Kallis with Praveen Kumar and Mark Boucher while Mumbai made only one change, replacing Rohan Raje with Dhawal Kulkarni.
