ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Thursday said that the war for implementation of supremacy of law has just begun.
Speaking in a meeting with a 70-member delegation of Gujranwala Bar that called on the CJP at Supreme Court here, Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said: “This war can be won only by establishing an unconditional cooperation between a bar and bench.”
He said no short cut can lead to national progress without ensuring supremacy of the law. In this regard, he said, the maximum responsibility lies on the shoulders of the judges and lawyers.
The Chief Justice made it clear to the lawyers that the higher judiciary is functioning independently and discharging its duties in a fearless and impartial manner.
The lawyers’ delegation informed the CJ about security situation in Gujranwala upon which Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry directed the SC Registrar to get in touch with the provincial government. | |
