Updated at: 0629 PST,  Saturday, May 29, 2010
Hunza Lake: water level 2 metres from spillway ISLAMABAD: Water level is continuously rising in Attabad Lake because of which even the upper areas are also beginning to flood.

The difference between the spillway and the level of lake is 2 metres, officials said on Wednesday.

Ataabad lake water was likely to enter spillway in 2 days while water level has risen to 350 feet.

Meanwhile, water seeping from the lake into valley has submerged many other areas. Water from the Attabad Lake has submerged Lower Shishkat, and now the Gilmat population is also under threat.

Gilmat is the tehsil headquarter and has a population of 3000. Its markets and lower regions are already flooded.

The area between Gilmat and Hussaini is completely submerged. Water had also reached the lower regions between Hussaini and Passu.
