| GEO World | | Israel confirms two new swine flu cases | Updated at: 1329 PST, Thursday, May 07, 2009 JERUSALEM: Israel's health ministry reported two new cases of swine flu on Thursday, bringing to seven the total number of people infected by the virus in the country.
The A(H1N1) virus was confirmed in a couple who had recently been discharged from a Tel Aviv hospital, the ministry said in a statement.
On Wednesday, a 59-year-old woman who had been on a flight from Madrid where four people had already been diagnosed with the virus was also confirmed to have contracted the disease.
The newly identified strain of influenza virus was previously confirmed in four Israelis who returned from Mexico, in the first such cases in the Middle East. All four were allowed to leave hospital following treatment.
