| GEO World | | Kabul suicide attack kills Afghan woman | Updated at: 1212 PST, Sunday, June 01, 2008 KABUL: A remote-controlled bomb blew up near an Afghan National Army (ANA) minibus in Kabul early Sunday, killing a woman and wounding five other people, the defence ministry said.
An official at the ministry's media office had initially said three civilians were killed in the blast but he later lowered the death toll to one.
A statement from the ministry also said a woman was killed and two other civilians were wounded. Three ANA personnel were wounded, it said.
The bomb had been planted in the middle of a road in the west of the city, the ministry official said on condition of anonymity. The bus, taking people to work at the military academy, was damaged but not destroyed, he said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, the second in the city since a Taliban suicide blast on Thursday killed three civilians. | |
