PESHAWAR: An official of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was among the 11 people killed when a suicide truck bomb hit a five star PC hotel in the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar, a provincial minister said.
According to sources, the deadly blast also left two foreigners killed one of them belonged to UNHCR who, Joseph Alexander, actually hailed from Russia.
At least 16 officials of United Nations have also sustained injuries while two among those are missing thus far, sources added.
According to the statement of IGP NWFP, 500 kilogram explosive material was used to carry out explosion which also smashed many vehicles parked nearby.
Injured are being treated at Lady Reading Hospital, he added. |  |
