No undue burden to be tolerated in budget: Nawaz

Updated at: 2011 PST,  Thursday, June 02, 2011
No undue burden to be tolerated in budget: Nawaz ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Thursday asserted that his party was playing a vigorous role of opposition and that he would not allow the people to be unduly burdened in the upcoming budget, Geo News reported.

Talking to media men following PML-N’s parliamentary meeting, Nawaz Sharif expressed the optimism that decisions of his party would soon begin to see implementation.

“I don’t understand what has been keeping the government so busy and why the (Abbottabad) commission could not be constituted even after a lapse of one month since May 2?” he wondered.

He questioned as to what was it that the nation was being kept in the dark about and if government’s breaking the silence exposes someone’s name, then ‘that’s how it ought to happen’.

“The reality would only come to light when the commission is formed and for this we will continue to exert immense pressure on the government,” Nawaz Sharif maintained, adding, the shortcomings could be curtailed with the setting up of the proposed body.

He said democracy was repeatedly abused at the hands of military dictators and even today attempts were afoot to squash the parliament. “Every sacrifice will be made to protect the sanctity of the parliament and steps will be taken inside and outside the parliament to uphold its supremacy,” he vowed.

The PML-N Chief said all the incidents of heinous nature would not be allowed to remain under cover, stressing that the Kharotabad incident and murder of journalist Salim Shahzad must be investigated.

He also called for making public the details of investigations into the killing of Geo News reporter Wali Khan Babar.
