WASHINGTON: Afghan war General Stanley McChrystal was seen leaving the White House on Wednesday after a 31-minute one-on-one meeting with President Barack Obama amid a firestorm over his disparging comments.
With speculation rife that he will be fired for the comments about the president and his national security team in a magazine, McChrystal climbed into a dark colored mini van and drove away from the White House.
McChrystal had been due to attend a meeting of Obama's war cabinet due to begin shortly in the secure White House Situation Room. It was not clear if he planned to return and there was no word on the outcome of the meeting. | |
