 LAHORE: Defence Minister, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has said that the prime minister has given full authority to the Army chief in connection with the Peshawar operation.
Talking to the media here, the defence minister said that General Ashfaque Pervaiz Kayani has been given full authority in connection with the Peshawar operation and he could now decide whatever he deemed fit. He said that the Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, in a meeting with the Army chief, has authorized him for taking decision as regards operation. Pakistanis were safe and the defence of Pakistan was in strong hands, he said. Defence minister further said that we have to collectively control wasteful expenditures for alleviating poverty.
