 Explosions heard in Islamabad, Rawalpindi
Updated at: 1418 PST,  Monday, June 30, 2008
ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi got quite a scare today after two simultaneous blasts were heard in the city. However Police officials in Rawalpindi say all sensitive sites in the city are secure and that there is no evidence of any actual explosion having taken place.

Earlier Islamabad has been put on red alert in response to the sound of the two blasts.

A senior police official in Rawalpindi told Geo News he was unaware of any actual explosion, and suggested the sound may have been from jets breaking the sound barrier.

However officials at the Pakistan Air Force said that none of its jets had broken the sound barrier today.
