TOKYO: General Motors Corp said it has ended a 25-year venture with Toyota at a manufacturing plant in Fremont California where it built the Pontiac Vibe based off the Toyota Matrix.
GM said it could not find a vehicle it could produce at the factory, known by its acronym 'Nummi' for New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated that it operated with Toyota Motor Corp.
GM said in a statement: "As part of its long-term viability plan, General Motors has decided that its ownership stake in the New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated (NUMMI) joint venture with Toyota will not be a part of the 'New GM'.
