Executive bound to implement judicial orders: Aitezaz
Updated at: 1410 PST,  Wednesday, June 30, 2010
Executive bound to implement judicial orders: Aitezaz LAHORE: Former president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Aitezaz Ahsan bristled at Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Khawja Muhammed Sharif, saying he should renounce headship of the higher judiciary, if he intends to step into politics, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Talking to media here at Lahore High Court Bar, he said the judiciary would not differentiate between Shahbaz Sharid and Salman Taseer, as most of decisions regarding fake educational degrees came against Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), adding however, there must have been some reasons for phenomenal attention given to President Asif Ali Zardari’s case regarding National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

Ahsan stressed there is no harm in issuing funds to the Bars, adding the elections of SCBA, inappropriate issuance of funds and huge amounts are some of the reasons that invited censure to these funds.

An air of confrontation exists between the government and judiciary, Ahsan maintained adding hatreds between two personages formed the basis of SCBA’s elections.

Aitezaz remarked he parted ways with the lawyers’ politics, as on one hand, Zardari is being detested the most and on the other, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry has become the most abhorred.

He said Parliament has unrestrained powers of legislation; however, judiciary has to make rulings in accordance with the Law and executive is bound by law to implement them.

Reacting to statement of the LHC’s CJ Sharif given in Hafizabad, Aitezaz said he (Khawja), giving a political statement, invited the criticism of political parties.
