PPP in Multan, PML-N in DGK win by-polls
Updated at: 0320 PST,  Sunday, June 06, 2010
PPP in Multan, PML-N in DGK win by-polls DERA GHAZI KHAN: According to unofficial results, PML-N’s Mir Badshah Qaisrani has won with 53,188 votes in PP-240 constituency.

In PP-206 constituency, Mujtaba Gilani, brother of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, of the PPP has won with 38,692 votes, while Naghma Mushtaq of the PML-N lost to him at the second place with 9,567 votes.

Earlier, five people were injured as clashes erupted between rival parties during by-polls in Jalalpur Pirwala.

Rangers were called in to control the situation. Polling was taking place in the provincial constituencies of Jalalpur Pirwala and Dera Ghazi Khan after the end of the election campaign amidst tight security.

The voting resumed after PML N candidate Naghma Mushtaq visited the polling station. Naghma accused Prime Minister Gilani’s brother and PPP candidate Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani of rigging the polls and resorting to violence.

Dismissing the allegations, Ahmed Gilani told Express News that the security is being controlled by the Punjab government and hence the accusations of poll rigging are not true.

The polling on the two seats is expected to see tough competition as PPP and PML-N candidates are the strong contenders.

In PP-206 Jalalpur, Prime Minister’s brother Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani and Naghma Mushtaq of PML-N are the main contenders for the coveted seat.

At PP-240 in Dera Ghazi Khan, the main competition was among PML-N’s Mir Badshah Qaisrani and two independent candidates Khawaja Salahuddin Akbar and Dilshad Ahmad Shaheen.

A blatant case of what appears to be an attempt by PML-N to rig the polls in Dera Ghazi Khan was caught on camera.

In a polling booth in Dera Ghazi Khan, a ballot box that is meant to be kept in isolation while voters cast their decision, has been left lying out in the open.

The shocking video reveals a minor repeatedly casting votes.

The video shows the boy wearing stickers bearing the PML-N candidates picture and name. The child is seen using the voting stamp at various points in the footage.

The voting staff also appeared to be facilitating this violation of law by providing the child with the voting stamp and ballot papers.
