11 killed, over 120 hurt in Mian Channu blast KHANIWAL: Eleven people were killed and over 120 injured when explosives went off in a house in Mian Channu earlier on Monday.

The power blast also caused damage to a number of houses in the surrounding area.

Police has recovered a rocket launcher, hand grenade and suicide jacket and arrested three persons including the owner of the house Master Riaz Ali.

According to sources, the explosion occurred in a house of Hafiz Riaz Ali located in Chak No. 129/15 in Mian Channu where children were imparted education.

A number of houses collapsed with the impact of the blast and many people are still trapped under the debris. Rescue and relief activities are underway in the affected area.

M.S. of Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Dr. Naeem Saddiq said nine people were killed on the spot including seven children, a female and man.

The blast left an eight feet deep crater.

According to DPO Kamran Khan, the blast ripped through Master Riaz’s House where children were taught Qur’an . It appears that the explosives were kept inside the house, he added.
