MICHIGAN: A tanker crashed and exploded on Interstate 75, injuring one person and collapsing part of the Nine Mile overpass leaving transportation officials today to determine how long repairs could take.
About 8 p.m., a tanker containing 13,000 gallons of fuel traveling north on I-75, under the Nine Mile overpass exploded and the bridge collapsed, Michigan State Police Lt. Shannon Sims said.
"We don't know what caused it. We don't know if something collided with the tanker or not. "
Everyone escaped: drivers from the tanker, a tractor-trailer and a passenger car, according to police.
