| GEO World | | 'Burka' ban ruled out for UK | Updated at: 0246 PST, Monday, July 19, 2010 ISLAMABAD: Britain's Immigration Minister Damian Green informed that Britain would not introduce any law to ban women from wearing the 'Burka'.
Green said it would be "undesirable" for Parliament to vote on a 'Burka' ban in Britain and that there was no prospect of the Coalition proposing it, private news channel reported.
His firm decision to rule out a 'Burka' ban will disappoint some Right-of-centre Tory MPs, including Philip Hollobone, who has tabled a private member's bill that would make it illegal for anyone to cover their face in public.
It is worth mentioning that neighboring France has recently imposed a complete ban on women from wearing the 'Burka'. | |
