14 dead in Karachi targeted killings
Updated at: 2118 PST,  Wednesday, July 21, 2010
KARACHI: Separate incidents of targeted killings during the last 36 hours have claimed 14 lives in Karachi.

Unknown attackers killed three people and dumped bodies their bodies in Pak Colony, Surjani Town and Baldia Town, police sources said. One of the deceased found in Surjani Town has been identified as Amjad Hussain.

The funeral for two of the three ANP workers killed in Gulistan-e-Johar last night was held on Wednesday in Pehlwan Goth.

The funeral for the third victim will be held in Alfalah's Green Town area.

Enraged people resorted to stone pelting and aerial firing during the funerals and protests against the killings, causing businesses in the area to halt.

Two people were also injured when unknown gunmen opened fire when the funeral procession was passing from Perfume Chowk towards Pehlwan Goth.

Police and Rangers have taken positions in the affected area in the wake of the above incidents.
