QUETTA: The stormy downpours harmed Damani Delay Action Dam, which caused the several villages in Balochistan area of Barkhan to be inundated with many houses damaged.
Talking to Geo News, Irrigation Department Loralai Superintendent Engineer Sher Zaman said the lashing rains in Narkot area, 14 kilometers to east of District Barkhan, harmed under construction Damani Delay Action Dam, adding the team of his department is being dispatched to the area for inspection and restoration of the affected dam.
According to reports, the driving showers and the breach in the dam deluged the adjoining areas and many un-cemented houses were washed out, triggering the exodus of local people from the area.
Talking to Geo News, former Balochistan MPA Sardar Abdul Rehman Kethran said the stormy rains started Wednesday night and continued for several hours, causing damage to the mud houses and rainwater entered several houses. However, no loss of life was hitherto reported.
Meantime, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raesaani took notice of embankment breach in Barkhan and directed the immediate activities.
He directed Commissioner Zhob to summarily submit report on Dam break and Provincial Disaster Management Authority to provide all available resources for the purpose. |  |
