Updated at: 0738 PST,  Monday, July 27, 2009
People at GT Road protest against power outages PESHAWAR: The people in GT Road and adjoining areas staged a protest demonstration against protracted unannounced power outages and kept the road blocked for several hours, causing massive traffic jams on Sunday night.

The infuriated people from various areas of Peshawar including Sethi Town, Gulbahar and Haji Camp blocked the GT Road near Lorry Adda Haji Camp for several hours in protest against prolonged unannounced power load shedding.

The protesters set tyres on fire and raised slogans against Wapda. Police baton-charged the demonstrators to break them up; however, on the intervention by the administration, the demonstrators dispersed and traffic was restored to normalcy.
