Power shortfall climbs over 3,500 MW
Updated at: 1742 PST,  Friday, July 31, 2009
Power shortfall climbs over 3,500 MW LAHORE: Lower discharge of water from Mangla Dam and lack of gas supply to Guddu Power House have added 400 MW and 1,000 respectively to the total power shortfall being faced by the country.

This has pushed the total power shortfall to over 3500 MW leading to 15 to 17 hour load-shedding.

According to PEPCO sources, the power situation will improve when the water discharge from Mangla and Tarbela dams increases and gas supply is restored to Guddu Power House.

The power outages will also reduce when thermal power houses become part of the supply system.
