MOSCOW: Russia has deployed nearly 240,000 people to fight forest fires raging in 14 central regions amid a record-breaking heatwave, the emergency ministry said in a statement.
The emergency ministry has sent 238,000 people, along with 226 aircraft, to fight the fires, which have claimed more than 30 lives, the ministry said, adding that it was able to "control the situation."
