Change of guard ceremony at Quaid’s mausoleum held KARACHI: A graceful ceremony of the change of guards was held here at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah on the occasion of country’s 61st Independence Day today.

Sindh Chief Minister, Governor, top military officials and Nazim Karachi on behalf of the Karachiites laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum and offered ‘Fateha’ and recorded their tributes to the Founder of the Nation in the guest book.

A smartly turned out contingent of the cadets from Pakistan Naval Academy took over the duties at the mausoleum of the Quaid at a dignified ceremony held here this morning.

Members of Sindh Cabinet, provincial assembly, diplomats and other dignitaries attended the flag hoisting ceremony. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad were the chief guest of the ceremony.

Female students sang national anthem. City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and Naib Nazima Nasreen Jalil also laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum, offered ‘Fateha’ and recorded their tributes to the Founder of the Nation in the guest book.

Later, gates of mausoleum were opened for citizens.
