Police arrest alleged killers of MQM MPA Raza Haider KARACHI: The Police on Wednesday arrested the alleged assassins of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, MQM-associated Member of Sindh Assembly, Raza Haider, killed here on August 2.

This was said by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Sultan Salahuddin Baber Khatak while addressing a press conference here.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Waseem Ahmed was also present on the occasion.

The IGP Sindh said the accused have been identified as Waseem alias Baroodi and Abdullah alias Temor alias Darzi.

He said both the accused who are members of banned outfit "Lashkar-e-Jhangvi", were arrested by a team of Police led by SSP Operation, Muhammad Fayyaz Khan and SSP Chaudhry Aslam, from Orangi Town here after an exchange of fire.

He said the arrested accused stated that they are involved in more than 10 target killings including those of MQM MPA RazaHaider and Mirza Khadim Hussain, son of a prominent scholar, Maulana Mirza Yousuf Hussain, he added.

The Sindh Police Chief said the police has also recovered a Kalashnikov, a T.T. pistol, a 9mm pistol, 100 kilogrammes of R.D.X explosive material, two R.P.G. rockets, 30 metres of detonating cord, five detonators with electric wire and one motorcycle.

He said raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices of the accused.

Sultan Salahuddin Baber Khatak said the accused have also stated about their involvement in killings of Dr. Syed Abbas Haider in the limits of PS Site on May 5, Asif Raza in the jurisdiction of PS Rizvia on June 1, Junaid Shakir in the limits of PS Bilal Colony on June 3, Syed Shahzad Haider in the limits of New Town on June 9, Naseer Hussain Jaffery in the limits of PS Nazimabad on June 12, Anees Hussain Jaffery in the limits of PS Jackson on July 9, Fayyaz Rizvi in the limits of PS Iqbal Market on July 6, MPA Raza Haiderand his gunman Khalid Khan in the limits of PS Nazimabad on August 2, Agha Abid Sheerazi in the limits of PS Ferozabadon August 10, Zakir Hussain in the limits of PS Ferozabad on August 11, and the killing of Mirza Khadim Hussain inthe limits of PS Nazimabad on August 16.

The Sindh Home Minister and IGP Sindh have announced a reward of Rs 500,000 for the police party on their successful action against the accused.
