PML-Q (like-minded) chooses Salim as president ISLAMABAD: The anti-Chaudhry Brothers like-minded group in Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Thursday apologized to the nation over incidents regarding judiciary and Lal Masjid during the era of former government.

The like-minded group of PML-Q, in General Council meeting, adopted a resolution nullifying the election of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain on party offices and appointed Hamid Nasir Chattha as party chairman, Salim Saifullah as president and Akhtar as General Secretary.

The PML-Q leaders held a General Council meeting here attended by at least 1500 workers.

Also, PML-Q leaders including Humayun Akhtar Khan, Salim Saifullah, Khursheed Mehmood Qasuri, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Hamayun Akhtar Khan and Gohar Ayub attended the meeting.

The council declared null and void the election of Chaudhry Brothers on the party offices.

Also, the General Council constituted a steering committee with Khursheed Qasuri for arrangements of party elections.

Addressing the council, Hamayun Akhtar said, We have severed ties with those who wronged judiciary and Lal Masjid, adding he apologized to the nation saying, they had their hands tied in the former government.

We have taken ourselves to the court of people and this day marks the end of politics by families.

The interim president Salim Saifullah invited Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to come forward and both of them jointly resign so that the party could be held together.

Interim Chairman Hamid Nasir Chattha said PML-Q was being run in non-political and undemocratic manner during the last five years, adding he raised voice against it several times; but, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain did not deed to it.
