Updated at: 1028 PST,  Thursday, August 21, 2008
3 NATO soldiers, 30 Taliban killed in Afghanistan KABUL: NATO says three of its soldiers were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in central Afghanistan. The alliance says the blast occurred in the central Ghazni province on Wednesday. It did not provide soldiers nationalities.

Polish troops patrol the province. The attack comes days after 10 French NATO paratroopers were killed and 21 others were wounded in Kabul province in one of the most lethal Taliban ground attacks on international forces in Afghanistan since 2001.

The U.S.-led coalition says more than30 militants were killed in a battle with its troops in eastern Afghanistan. The coalition says in a statement that the clash took place in the eastern Laghman province on Wednesday. There were neither coalition nor Afghan troops killed.

The coalition says small arms fire and airstrikes were used against militants, killing over 30 and destroying a large cache of mortar rounds.
