PESHAWAR: The principle officer in the U.S. consulate in Peshawar, Lynne Tracy, has been fired on by unidentified persons as she was traveling from her home to the consulate. The diplomat escaped unhurt, but a passing rickshaw driver was injured.
The spokesperson for the Peshawar American Consulate has confirmed the attack and said that Tracy escaped the attack.
According to police officials, early this morning, Tracey was traveling from her home to the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar when a Land Cruiser blocked the way and several unknown gunmen opened fire on her vehicle, shortly after it left her home.
Police said that her vehicle was bullet proof and neither Tracey nor her driver were injured in the attack, but a rickshaw driver who was passing close to the vehicle, was run over in the melee and has been taken to Khyber Teaching Hospital.
The attackers fled from the scene, a FIR has been opened but no arrests have been made so far. |  |
