ISLAMABAD: The first session of 7th meeting of the newly reconstituted National Finance Commission (NFC) has ended here at the conference room of the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting was presided over by Senator Shaukat Tarin Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs and the four provincial ministers, and economic analysts including members of the commission, Abdul Ghafoor Mirza (Punjab), Kaiser Bengali (Sindh), Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel (NWFP) and Dr. Gulfaraz Ahmad (Balochistan) attended the meeting.
Provincial Secretaries of Finance also attended the meeting to assist the members of the commission.
Talking to media after the meeting, Balochistan’s Finance Minister Mir Asim said the province was preciously being given only two percent of the NFC Award and with this minimal finance, Balochistan cannot be brought at par with the other provinces. Talking to media after the meeting, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said a dictator gave the previous NFC Award where the public representatives were not fully authorized, adding the provinces were not consulted in the said Award.
He said all constitutional requirements have been met for the Award, adding every province presented its stance at the meeting quite candidly.
He said the efforts are aimed at presenting the NFC Award in September.
The next NFC Award meetings would be held in all the provinces starting with Balochistan, he added. |  |
