 BAHAWALPUR: The laying of Astroturf and other construction work at the Mutiullah Khan Hockey Stadium in Bahawalpur has been completed.
After the project has been completed at a cost of Rs 86 million, the stadium has been handed over to the district hockey association.
For the promotion of hockey in Bahawalpur, the then President and Army chief of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf had approved the project in 2002 and then its cost was estimated at Rs 27 million.
However, this project was delayed due to non-interest from the Punjab government and the district government and with that the cost of the project was increased by three times.
The stadium has been made according to the international standard and now the government of Punjab has announced to install the floodlights also in the stadium. |  |
