Govt to succeed in pulling country out of challenges: Zardari BIRMINGHAM: President Asif Ali Zardari said on Saturday that with determination and resolve of the people of Pakistan, the present democratic government will succeed in pulling the country out of its present problems and challenges.

Addressing a big community meeting here at International Convention Centre, he said it was a dream of both Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to see Pakistan as a progressive and democratic country and the government was working hard to achieve those objectives.

The president said that democracy in Pakistan has been faced with various challenges throughout its history and the government is taking steps to put democracy on sound footings.

He said that party was pursuing the policy of reconciliation and mentioned the passage of 18th constitutional amendment, NFC award, autonomy to Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan package and women empowerment bill as some of the steps taken by the government to strengthen democracy.
