PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Syed Munawar Hasan Saturday ruled out regrouping of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), saying it has become part of history but added that an anti-US alliance would now be formed.
Talking to newsmen in Peshawar on Saturday Syed Munawar Hasan said that MMA disbanded due to the president Musharraf’s presidential election.
He said. “Contrary to the earlier decision the NWFP assembly was not dissolved before the presidential election of the former president.”
“Being an ally of the government Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman is working for US interests and the present government is following the policies of the former president.”
He observed Parliament does not need to pass a unanimous resolution for Pervez Musharraf's trial.
Munawar urged Nawaz Sharif to start a practical struggle for the trial of the former president instead of just giving empty statements from Raiwand.
He denied that Jamaat-e-Islami received money when Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) was formed.
Issue of changing the name of the NWFP Province should be discussed in the assembly, he added.
