Reinstated employees to get salaries shortly: Tareen ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Shaukat Tareen here Tuesday assured the Senate Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges that they would release funds for payment of salaries and other dues of re-instated workers within 48 hours.

He further assured that the Presidential Ordinance regarding re-instatement of the sacked employees would be implemented in letter and spirit.

The Committee met at the Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi for the second consecutive day to consider the Privilege Motion moved by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, said a press release.

Members of the Committee expressed their satisfaction that most of the organizations have implemented the Presidential Ordinance in real sense, however, it deplored the reluctant attitude of the SNGPL, SSGC, and NBP on the reinstatement of the sacked employees.

“It is an attempt to undermine the authority of the Parliament which the Committee would never allow”, the Committee added.

The Mover Mian Raza Rabbani said resistance was still there to implement the Ordinance to re-instate the sacked employees.

He said some organizations have tried to violate the Presidential Ordinance and adopted different kinds of delaying tactics.

He, however, appreciated PIA, ZTBL, Pakistan State Life Insurance and NBP for implementing the Ordinance.

The Chairman and members of the Committee also expressed their satisfaction over the implementation of the Ordinance by these organizations and directed the quarters concerned to pay the salaries and dues to the re-instated workers well before Eid.

They further directed that all workers must be treated fairly and with dignity.

The meeting was attended, among others by Dr. Muhammad Ismail Buledi, Abbas Khan, Minister of State for Finance Hina Rabbani Khar and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs and MD/CEOs of NBP, State Life,. ZTBL, IB and PIA were also present.
