Punjab agriculture secretary claims surmounting fertilizer shortage BHAWALPUR: Punjab is facing fertilizer shortage over 35 percent, but the provincial government taking timely measures has overcome the situation.

Punjab Secretary Agriculture Department, Javed Awan here said that the provincial government informing the federal government about the shortage had suggested for the import of 0.3 million tons of fertilizer, but for lack of Finance Division’s approval, the province was afflicted with 35 percent shortage of fertilizer. He said that the Punjab government managing fertilizer supplies to the growers by procuring it from the fertilizer factories controlled the situation. He further said that there was no shortage of flour in the districts of Bhawalpur and Rahinyar Khan and the government was sending 12,000 flour bags to Lahore in a day or two, which would remove flour shortage in the city and its outskirts.
