Updated at: 0244 PST,  Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Nine security troops killed in Swat unrest: ISPR SWAT: A suicide bomber Monday rammed his explosive-laden-car into security forces check-post near Madain rest house in Swat district, killing at least nine security personnel, an official of ISPR confirmed.

“As many as nine security personnel embraced Shahadat when a suicide bomber crashed his explosive car with security check post near Madain rest House soon after Iftari time,” said ISPR spokesman Major Murad Khan. He said the incident occurred at 7:30pm local time.

He said that the injured troops died on the spot while the remaining critical injured succumbed to their injuries later on. Local residents said that the explosion was so powerful that its bang heard in two kilometers radius.

It was the second deadly suicide attack on security forces within a week as on September 16 last, three FC troops were martyred and another six injured in car bomb and rocket attacks on FC check-post at Totano Bandai in restive Tehsil Kabal in Swat district.

Soon after the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area and stared search operation.
