Asif summoned to appeal before IPL tribunal on Oct 11
Updated at: 0232 PST,  Thursday, September 25, 2008
LAHORE: The Indian Premier League tribunal for a hearing on October 11 has summoned Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif after many delays and postponements.

Asif's lawyer Shahid Karim told Geo News that he would accompany his client along with their consultant Dr. Graham to India in the second week of October.

He had earlier criticized the IPL's drug tribunal for delaying the preliminary hearing into the bowler's violation of the ICC's anti-doping code.

The tribunal had set August 30th as the date of the hearing after both of Asif's samples tested positive for nandrolone, but had deferred it on his request.

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, Dr Ravi Bapat and lawyer Shirish Gupte make up the IPL's drug tribunal.
