Pakistan receives 271550 metric tonnes wheat
Updated at: 2207 PST,  Thursday, September 25, 2008
KARACHI: Six ships carrying 271,550 metric tonnes of wheat have arrived at Port Qasim and Karachi Port Trust.

Trading Corporation of Pakistan has asked authorities to provide maximum berths for speedy offloading. As due to unavailability of berths, ships have to wait and this causes financial loss in the form of heavy demurrages.

The country plans to import 2.5 million tonnes of wheat for buffer stock out of which 1.7 million tonnes have been procured so far.
