JONA GARH: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani on Friday reiterated his commitment to build a Ram Temple at Ayodhya during his day-long visit to Keshod.
“I will keep visiting Somnath Temple till the Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya,” he told mediapersons at the Somnath Temple premises. Advani had arrived at Veraval to make his annual visit to Somnath.
Advani has been visiting the temple on September 25 every year for the last 20 years to mark his Rathyatra.
Recalling the memories of the yatra, he said, “Today, I have come here to offer my prayers on the 20th anniversary of the Rathyatra. The Ram temple should be and will be built at Ayodhya.”
Incidentally on May 31, 2005, Advani had expressed his regret over the demolition of the Babri Masjid during his visit to Islamabad.
His remarks that December 6 was the saddest day of his life, led to protests by VHP leader Pravin Togadia, who sought an apology from the BJP leader over the same.
Much though has changed within the Parivar. Advani, who has faced flak within the Parivar over his leadership, has now reiterated his commitment to the Ram temple.
The RSS is also reportedly brokering peace between the VHP and the BJP, while Advani is keeping a low profile in the state affairs.
The Gandhinagar MP, who was accompanied by his daughter Pratibha, also stressed on the need to provide better education and health facilities to the children. | |
