WANA: The Afghanistan based coalition gunship helicopters heavily shelled Angoor Adda, a border village of South Waziristan Agency, killing at least 20 innocent people, said an official statement issued by the Governor House here on Wednesday.
The women and children were also martyred in the deadly assault carried out by three allied forces gunship choppers in a pre dawn attack, it said.
The official statement said that NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has strongly condemned the attack by three Afghanistan based coalition Gunship helicopters and commandos on a village in Birmal area close to Angoor Adda of South Waziristan.
The Governor said,” It is outrageous”, adding that as administrative head of FATA, he is responsible for the safety and security of the citizens of the country in that area.
The Governor further stated that this is a direct assault on the sovereignty of Pakistan and the people of Pakistan expect that the Armed Forces of Pakistan would rise to defend the sovereignty of the country and give a befitting reply to all such attacks.
The Governor has expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families and assured that the govt. would try its best to protect its citizens from such cowardly attacks in the days to come.
The eye-witnesses account also revealed that at least three gun-ships helicopters of the allied forces intruded into Pakistan territory and bombarded three houses in Jalalkhel killing 20 people including three women and four children. |  |
