ATMs run out of cash before Eid holidays
Updated at: 1814 PST,  Tuesday, September 30, 2008
ATMs run out of cash before Eid holidays KARACHI: Banks on Tuesday ran out of cash a day before Eid holidays while most of the banks’ branches located in the outskirts of city were closed prior to scheduled time in the metropolis.

People complained that most of the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) were also out of cash.

People told Geo News that banks went short of cash even before closing time while thousands of people could not withdraw cash.

The spokesman of Central Bank, Syed Waseem uddin said the bank had provided Rs.416 billions to the banks. But it failed to overcome cash shortages in banks.

Apart from banks, people complained that most of the banks closed doors of ATMs due to cash shortage. On the other hand, ATM service provider, Link One has advised the banks to make better arrangements to deposit cash into the ATMs during Eid holidays.
