Kohat tunnel remains closed on seventh consecutive day
Updated at: 1313 PST,  Thursday, September 04, 2008
KOHAT: Kohat Tunnel was closed for the seventh consecutive day as repair work of three destroyed bridges at Indus Highway could not start on Thursday.

Karachi to Peshawar traffic remained suspended because of closure of Tunnel, according to sources. The situation was tense in the city after recent suicide attacks on security forces' camps in Darra Adamkhel. People are facing food shortage, sources say.

It may be recalled that security forces had launched operation against the militants in Darra Adamkhel on August 29.

The ongoing operation has forced 50 per cent of the population to move to other cities. Remaining citizens are mostly old aged or children who are unable to travel along mountains.
