KARACHI: After approval of 31 per cent rise in power tariff by federal government, Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) is planning to increase its per unit electricity prices.
According to KESC management, the company charges Rs2 per unit to domestic consumers who consume 50 units monthly, however, after recent 31 rise, price per unit is likely to increase by 60 paisa per unit.
The consumers utilizing 100 units per month pay Rs5.75, which will now have to pay Rs7.30 for 100 units. While domestic consumers whose consumption is around 200 units pay Rs6.97 per unit. After addition, they will pay Rs9.75 per unit.
Apart from bill, government is also charging Rs98 as meter duty and two per cent general sales tax on total bill. On the other hand, KESC Director Sultan Hassian said the company will issue final tariff after getting the notification of 31 raise in power tariff. |  |
