PML-N not to destabilise PPP Govt in center: Nawaz Sharif
Updated at: 0819 PST,  Saturday, September 06, 2008
PML-N not to destabilise PPP Govt in center: Nawaz Sharif ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif said Friday that his party would not become a part of any move to destabilise the Pakistan People’s Party’s government in the center.

Addressing the PML-N Central Parliamentary Party meeting here at the Punjab House, Nawaz Sharif said PML-N accepts the majority and mandate of the People’s Party in the center.

Similarly, the PML-N Quaid hopes that PPP would honour the mandate of his party in the Punjab province, according to party sources.

Nawaz Shairf said the PML-N would not compromise on its principled stand and would continue its efforts for strengthening of the democratic institutions in the country.

The PML-N Quaid said the nation had given a mandate in the February 18 elections to restore the deposed judges and undo all extra-constitutional steps taken by General (Retd) Musharraf.

“We will follow the verdict of the people,” the sources quoted the PML-N chief as saying.

Nawaz Sharif told the lawmakers that PML-N was left with no option but to withdraw first from the cabinet and then from the coalition after the PPP did not honour pledges to restore the judges.

Rreferring to the presidential election, the PML-N Quaid said the party’s central leaders had contacted all political parties including PML (Q) to seek support for justice Retd. Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui.
