LAHORE: After the end of Ramazan Package from Punjab government, the flour mills owners have raised the price of 20-kilogram pouch of flour by Rs.175 to sell at Rs.600/20 kilogram, Geo News reported.
Punjab Chairman of Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Liaquat Ali Khan said a 20-kilogram bag of flour was selling at Rs.425 in Ramazan across Punjab while Ramazan Bazaars went a step further to sustain price of 20-kilogram flour pouch at Rs.200.
He said, however, Punjab government stopped selling mill owners wheat at cheap prices, which, in turned saw flour prices surging rapidly across province well ahead Eid-ul-Fitr.
Liaquat Ali Khan linked hike in flour prices with electricity tariff, wheat prices and one percent turnover levy, fearing further surge in prices.
PFMA also urged government to take notice of sudden rise is flour prices in tribal areas. | | | | |
