CHRISTCHURCH: A state of emergency in the earthquake-hit New Zealand city of Christchurch has been extended for another week, a civil defence ministry official said Wednesday.
"We've just been told the state of emergency in Christchurch will be in place for another week," a ministry official told media.
He was unable to confirm whether the extension was a direct result of strong aftershocks that hit the city Wednesday morning. |  | | | |
